Mi mapa de input lingüístico: a Growth Mindset Lesson for Heritage Speakers

A complete lesson plan for heritage speakers class that will last one to two days. This product contains five worksheets in Spanish. Teacher instructions are also included. The goal of this lesson is to help students realize they should not compare their Spanish to native speakers. This activity seeks to point out each student’s uniqueness in general (the particular language journey they find themselves on) and encourages a sense of growth through self discovery. Students will be reminded that improvement in their full grasp of Spanish (written, spoken, and reading) will flourish as they continue to gain exposure to the full language, especially in academic settings.  In this lesson your students will: 1.Learn why heritage speakers shouldn’t compare themselves to native speakers. 2.Read a short excerpt. 3.Talk with a partner. 4.Draw their language input map for Spanish & English. 5.Reflect how much exposure they have to English & Spanish in their daily lives. 6.Set goals and foster a growth mindset. 7.Understand the difference between bilingual & biliterate. You can expand on the topics of this lesson with in-class instruction/discussion or you could also leave this as a packet for sub plans. See the VIDEO PREVIEW here. THIS PRODUCT IS NOT EDITABLE.
