“Goal Blocks” Student Goal-Setting, New Year’s Resolutions
by admin

Goal Blocks is a meaningful and memorable goal-setting activity for students (with eye-popping display options!), perfect for setting New Year’s resolutions or for a back to school activity at the beginning of the year. Students use the letters of the word “GOAL” to break down the goal-setting process: G represents the Guts of the goal, which includes writing a goal statement, setting a standard for success, and setting a time frame. O represents the Obstacles that stand in the way of reaching their goal. A represents three Action Steps students plan to help move toward their goal. L represents Looking Ahead to life afterward, where students visualize how they will feel upon reaching their goal and think about what they might strive for next. A goal-planning booklet guides students through each part. Then students create a stunning 2-D or 3-D display to capture their goals, literally filling the large G-O-A-L block letters with their goal information. Detailed visual guides (with photos!) are included to help put together the final displays. Follow-up activities and ideas are also included, like Goal Update Booklets and Goal-Partner-Get-Togethers, to help students follow through with working toward their goals and to give them peer accountability. Check out the PREVIEW for a closer look! Included in this resource: Teacher Introduction Goal-Planning Booklet Completed Examples to model process with students 2-D Version of Goal Blocks display (3 options: lined/unlined) 3-D Version of Goal Blocks display (3 options: lined/unlined) Visual guides to show students how to transfer their goal planning to their final displays and how to design/assemble them (2-D & 3-D guides included, as well as link to YouTube video demonstration of 3-D assembly) Goal Update Booklet Goal Partners (peer accountability suggestions) Bulletin Board Ideas/Accessories (with 3 title options: “What’s Your Goal?”, “Our Goals… Outlined!”, and “The Building Blocks of Our Goals”; along with year inserts to add for a New Year’s board… e.g. “What’s Your 2022 Goal?”) **For personal and single classroom use only.
